Reconciliation Action Plan

Toukley Neighbourhood Centre’s first Reconciliation Action Plan was developed during 2019 with staff participating in workshops with Lindsay Stanford from Blakworks Employment Solutions.

Our first Reflect RAP was endorsed by Reconciliation Australia from September 2019-October 2020. We are committed to embedding respect and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in our workplace and delivering the actions in our Reconciliation Action Plan and this has supported change in the way of: 

• Increasing our cultural awareness and competency for all staff and volunteers at the time of induction and ongoing.
• Increasing our business opportunities to support local Aboriginal artists, Aboriginal owned businesses and companies with supplying art works, products or services.
• Working with the local Aboriginal organisations, services and community to build relationships and connections to support an increase in opportunities for employment and social and economic participation.

During the challenges of Covid-19 lockdown in 2021, the staff and volunteers have been working on a draft Aboriginal Employment Strategy and we will be working on developing our next Reconciliation Action Plan in 2022.
